Steve Walsh is known for his work as the frontman of the progressive rock band Kansas, from which he retired in 2014. On his fourth solo album Black Butterfly the influences from his past are brought into sharp focus via fourteen compact rock songs written with Swedish musician Tommy Denander (highlighted by a duet with Jerome Mazza).
