Consisting of Indiana University”s Jacobs School faculty, alumni, and current students, Ritmos Unidos is quite unique

This dynamic group featuring Michael Spiro, Michael Mixtacki, Joe Galvin, Jamaal Baptiste, Nate Johnson, Joel Tucker, Pat Harbison and Jeremy Allen will be releasing their sophomore album, Ritmos Unidos, on Patois Records. Consisting of Indiana University s Jacobs School faculty, alumni, and current students, Ritmos Unidos is quite unique in that they play music from throughout the Caribbean and South America, they don t just play one style of Latin music. Ritmos sings in at least four languages (English, Yoruba, Portuguese, and Spanish), and their repertoire includes an enormous variety of different styles of Latin music, all of which is played with stylistic integrity and understanding. I don t know if we are the only Latin band ever formed in Bloomington Indiana, but I am quite sure we are the first to play both Latin music for dancers (salsa), and Latin music for listeners (Latin Jazz). Featuring Michael Spiro, Jeremy Allen, Jamaal Baptiste, Joe Gavin, Pat Harbison, Nate Johnson, Mike Mixtacki, Joel Tucker and special guests Wayne Wallace, Liam Teague and Kevin Bobo.
