Music for a male choir, trombone, guitar and drums
Conditions is a piece that was composed for and premiered during the Northern Lights Festival in Tromsø in 2013. The libretto is a commentary on the struggle that artists and cultural institutions in Italy must endure during these hard financial and political times. The idea for this piece occurred to me via my own experiences on a number of occasions in Italy, where I gained first- hand information from working and performing with Italian artists.
ÃËystein Blix is a musician and Composer educated at the Jazz Department of the
Norwegian University of Science and Technology. He currently lives in Tromsø. His recording credits include albums With musicians Nils-Olav Johansen, Marit Sandvik,
Alf Kjellman, Audun Kleive, Sizzle Ohtaka, Liv- Hanne Haugen, Alain Kawzcak and Thierry Girault. As a composer, he has written original Music for many different ensembles in genres that include jazz, new music, sound art and theatre music. He has also composed several commissioned works.
The recording was done featuring Mimas Male Choir, conducted by Ursa Lah, Kristian Svalestad Olstad – guitar/electronics, Aleksander Kostopolous – drums/Electronics and ÃËystein Blix – trombone.
