He is one of the icons of funk and soul: Maceo Parker. Since his collaboration with James Brown in the 1960s, Maceo”s saxophone playing has unmistakably stood out from the crowd of saxophonists: clear, distinct and to the point. In addition to Brown, Parker starred with George Clinton and, for years, with Prince. Parker has pushed his own career since the 1990s. Maceo is now one of the most famous live acts worldwide.
On the occasion of his 75th birthday on February 14, 2018, Maceo will finally be releasing a studio album since 2004 with »It”s All About Love«, which, in addition to his saxophone playing, also presents him as an excellent singer. He relies on the help of the WDR Big Band Cologne, where Michael Abene was responsible for the arrangements. Former Prince and now Beyonce drummer Cora Coleman will be on the drums.
