Lucy Ann Polk was one of the most acclaimed Jazz big band vocalists of the early 1950”s having won the Downbeat “”girl singer”” poll two years in a row, in 1951 and 1952, when she sang for Les Brown”s band. Make no mistake about it, this is not a Doris Day sound-a-like. Between 1948 and 1954, Les Brown had a top notchBebop band which included Don Fagerquist, Dave Pell, Wes Unsell, and many other Jazz luminaries. Lucy Ann has a very sexy voice that really hits the mark. This album is a classic, featuring charts by Marty Paich, and recorded in Stereo at Radio Recorders in 1957.
