Drummer Joel Haynes leads his working trio with guest tenorist Seamus Blake at this cooking gig at Cory Weeds” Cellar Jazz Club back in early February. What a fun night this must have been! The working group of Haynes with pianist Tilden Webb and Jodi Proznick plays together like the Celtics defense-absolutely air tight.

All the tunes are originals, and the band is able to explore the chordal nuances in the company of an appreciative audience. Driven by the leader with his crisp stick work, the opening ”Transitions” has an irresistibly catchy melody sets the tone for an intense evening.
