Five organ compositions have been preserved to the present day. Three preludes and two chorale compositions. They represent undoubtedly only a fraction of Leycling”s production. The three organ works are written in tabulatur and many factors indicate that they cannotbe completely authentic and original. Both of the chorale arrangements are copied by Walther or by some of his students, and it is these which Walther refers to in his letter of April 4, 1729 as keyboard instrument works. Some additional chorale arragements (”pieces by the late Herr Leyding” ) which Walther narnes in a letter of August 3, 1731 have unfortunately been lost.
