Bergonzi”s powerful tones are added to Etc”s proven formula, pulling the band along with him with the force of his personality.

This album is just a treat. It”s the sound of four veteran musicians getting together and playing from the heart. On first listen, I thought a number of these tunes were standards, especially ”Once More” and ”Conclusive Evidence.” Nope, they”re all originals, and many (if not all) of them have appeared on other records by the musicians, for example, ”Evanessence” is from Fred Hersch”s album by the same name. This music is lush, sensuous, romantic and heartfelt – there are some moments of real beauty here.
