This is a decidedly “”two-sided”” document, the music seemingly chosen for maximum contrast. “”Side One”” is an extended composition that would, in Braxton”s later ordering of things, become “”Composition No. 36″”. It shows him in a severe mode, without the steady rhythmic impetus of his “”head”” compositions. The original “”Side Two”” is utterly different, a usually breezy trip through three jazz standards accompanied by the bass work of Dave Holland. Also features Richard Teitelbaum on Moog synthesizer and percussion.
